The latest game in the series, Tales of Arise, comes out worldwide on September 10th. As such, I’d personally still recommend getting the Gold Pro version.Įdit: Just saw your edit.A subreddit for fans of the "Tales of" series published by Namco Bandai! Tales of Arise I believe there are newer versions of the R4 that can, but those might not run DS games as flawlessly, as the Gold Pro (being a DS cartridge) switches the 3DS to DSi mode, it seems. Note that the Gold Pro works with the 3DS, and can play DS roms, but it can’t play 3DS roms. There may be other versions that work just as well, but my the only other versions I’ve used were from before 3DS compatibility. Personally, I’d recommend ordering through an online retailer like Ebay or Amazon, just so you know you have the option to return it if necessary.Īs for what to look for specifically, there are a few versions of the card that are supposed to work with the 3DS, but the only one I can personally vouch for is the “SDHC Gold Pro” version, which hasn’t given me any issues on my New 3DS. It’s been a while since I got mine, so I’m not sure if you can buy from the makers directly. Speaking from my own experience, it seems that emulation is much more reliable via that method, as I didn’t have any issues when playing Innocence. Third, if nothing else works, you may want to look into getting a flash card (such as an R4) that’s compatible with the 3DS. So you may have luck either redoing it, from vanilla rom and patch, or finding a prepatched version online. Though I don’t know if you’re using the same software, that may solve the issue regardless.Īlternatively, it’s possible something went wrong when patching the game. The solution seems to be running the game in DSi mode. I found this thread that seems to describe a similar issue, where playing DS roms on a 3DS results in freezing during animated/prerendered cutscenes. (Full disclosure, I can’t test all of these myself to verify, since I don’t have a hacked 3DS) Just to confirm, you’re playing the DS version, which you applied the Absolute Zero translation patch to, on a hacked 3DS? If so, there are a few things that might help. Related Websites and Groupsįlair images from Tales of Transparent, Brilliant Cataclysmic Rips, and Abyssal Chronicles' Tales of Card Evolve Gallery.
